Maureen Denise McCormick, the sole child from Richard McCormick and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her father worked as a school teacher and her mother as a stay at home mom. Michael Dennis and Kevin are three of her elder brothers. McCormick began dancing and singing at an early age and would often perform puppet shows in front of the children from her neighborhood. At the age 6, McCormick won at the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest. Pat Domigan from the Jack Wormser Agency then called her and asked whether the actress was looking to pursue a career in showbusiness. McCormick found her first role as a leading actress in the year 1964. She starred in an ad campaign for Mattels new doll, Baby Pattaburp. In the following year she was a guest on another company's Chatty Cathy Doll and was quickly chosen to play the La Jolla Playhouse play Wind ItUp and ItBreaks. The Brady Bunch In 1969 McCormick was chosen from a field of 1500 children who had auditioned to play the eldest of three daughters towheaded on the new TV sitcom The Brady Bunch starring Florence Henderson as well as Robert Reed as newlyweds with the family of a blended couple. The run of five years for the show proved to be a huge successful one. McCormick said in her book from 2008 Heres the Story : Surviving Marcia Brady & Finding My True Voice she almost losing her virginity in the fifth season to Barry Williams, her co-star and on-screen brother. He was just 19. She was 16. It would have happened she told me, but the timing wasn't right for us.
